Tigo customers can now send and receive money to any Tigo customer in the country from across all networks through its Tigo Pesa platform.

In a statement released on Monday, the tanzanian telco company said that the customers will be able to move money from Vodacom’s M-Pesa, Ezy pesa of Zantel and Airtel money.

The service dubbed, ‘NITIGOPESA’ comes after the successful launch of interoperability with banks and other mobile operators in Tanzania. The service is set to help users of mobile money from all networks with any Tigo Pesa customer and merchants in Tanzania.

Tigo Tanzania Head of mobile financial services, Ruan Swanepoel said that customers of other mobile money networks such as M-Pesa, Airtel Money and EasyPesa will be able to transact with Tigo Pesa customers and pay for goods at our wide network of Tigo Pesa merchants spread all over the country.

“customers from across all networks can now pay for services or products at any merchant shops across the country that have the ‘Lipa hapa kwa Tigo Pesa’ sign” he said.

In 2016, Tigo Pesa service completed a full interoperability with other mobile financial services operators and banks in Tanzania to make its services available to its customers.
